Raul Castro's man in the US?

Hola amigos!

What follows is an analysis of rumors and activities going on behind the scene by a friend named Larry Daley. I hope you find it interesting.

Tomás Estrada-Palma

Domingo Amuchastegui,

Raul Castro's man in the US?

According to rumors based upon his statements, behaviors, and contacts in the US, Raul's man unofficially negotiating on the General's behalf with, members of the US government is Domingo Amuchastegui. Amuchastegui, a "former" Cuban intelligence official is a "source" for information on high level Cuban command structure (e.g. see Ratliff, 2004) and has for some years now written on topics related to the Cuban Government's Armed Forces.

Amuchastegui, Domingo 1999 Cuba's Armed Forces: Power and Reforms - in Cuba in Transition: Volume 9. Papers and Proceedings of the Eight Annual Meeting of the Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy (ASCE), Coral Gables, Florida August 12-14, 1999.

In August you should have heard him at the ASCE conference in Miami when somebody mentioned that Raul had a reputation for homosexuality and that such would be a barrier to Raul's success as a leader. Amuchastegui screamed and yelled and denied it all.....very strange behavior for a scholar, especially for a so called "defector."

Take care be well,

Larry Daley
